First communion & eucharist
"The Holy Eucharist is 'the source and summit of the Christian life'. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ Himself, our Pasch" (CCC-1324)
First Communion for children is administered in grade two, (age 7) which is considered the age of reason. A suitable preparation program is offered in the Catholic school, and children not in the Catholic school system will participate in a program similar to the school program but run by the parish. A Baptismal Certificate is required and profession of faith are given by parents or guardians. First communion takes place at a regularly scheduled Sunday Mass.
